A stay at the historic Adolphus Hotel is an experience I’ve dreamed of since I learned the historic landmark is a stone’s throw from my home in downtown Dallas. For my 29thbirthday this year I got my wish, and it far exceeded any expectations I could have set. I walked in and felt like royalty as I was greeted by all the friendly staff who learned of my birthday surprise. They then spent the entire weekend wishing me a happy birthday and asking if they could do anything to make my stay better. It may sound trivial, but these little gestures go far when it comes to making a repeat guest out of anyone!
Simply walking into this enchanting building sent my heart through an endless journey of dreams. The luxurious lobby is adorned with timeless décor that is ingrained with the history of this community. Portraits of past royal guests like Queen Elizabeth II (who stayed there in 1991 and was so impressed with the service received, that she gave the hotel an official Portrait to be hung in the lobby- make sure to look for it when you visit!), add to the splendor of its design.
Moving past the main lobby are elegant corridors that take you to the different areas of the hotel. You can socialize with a drink at City Hall Bar, or enjoy a nice quiet resting place by the fireplace.
With refined elegance greeting you at every corner, you’ll want to explore more of this place, and you can as they do provide guided tours. We got a lovely guided tour of the French Room, one that deserves special mention (stay tuned for that feature as it is an experience I look forward to sharing with you soon.)
There is also the Century Room on the 19th floor that in the past has attracted performances by the likes of top entertainers like the Andrew Sisters, Benny Goodman, and Tony Bennet. It now serves as an iconic ballroom for weddings. There’s also Otto’s, a Viennese style café where you can grab a cup of coffee and enjoy a good book. My beloved and I grabbed a few nibbles and drinks at City Hall Bistro for brunch. I still dream of the Avocado Toast I enjoyed there (make sure to ask for bacon on top!).
If all that wasn’t good enough to make this stay exceptional, The Adolphus Spa set a golden standard as far as a good pampering is concerned. The relaxation room is a quiet haven that sets the mood as you await to be whisked away for your spa treatment. The massage I received there was one of the most spectacular I’ve had in my life…. just what the doctor ordered!
They also have a fitness center and pool. While we were able to take a peak at the pool and rooftop bar, it was closed due to the colder season we’re in. We do look forward to returning when the weather permits!
*For the gentleman in your life they have a very neat Barbershop: Brass Tacks. Which “boasts of traditional barbers with a focus on straight-razor shaves and classic cuts”, they will surely treat a fella to a uniquely wonderful experience.
No time for a cut? Dr. J will certainly help get those shoes shined!
Final Thoughts: Adolphus Hotel Review
A stay at the Adolphus Hotel is an experience fit for royalty, which is precisely who has walked through the doors here. The lovely thing about that statement is that while actual Royalty has stayed here, the experience is open to anyone. We were so wonderfully taken care of it was hard to leave. I couldn’t stop expressing my gratitude to everyone there for the special weekend they helped orchestrate and I absolutely look forward to many more stays with them.
