Visit DFW’s list of Trail Guides is full of great restaurants and gems. From food and drinks to instaworthy spots, there’s no shortage of places to experience; and if you’re looking for a killer place to impress your friends with, Mexican Sugar in Plano is the place to go!
AMBIANCE
Mexican Sugar has a very “old spanish traditional” feel. With lots of open spaces and beautiful fixtures strategically placed around the restaurant. Something anyone with a keen eye for decor would certainly appreciate:
The menu, while not extensive, provides all the right selections to satisfy a plethora of cravings.
For appetizers we went with their Queso Blanco: Three mexican cheeses, toasted dried Chile, and a dash of guac topped with cilantro.
A perfectly rich and delicious balance.Followed up by their ceviche: A very delicious blend of shrimp, black gulf snapper, avocado, and delicious seasonings.
I truly am picky when it comes to ceviche, but we were fighting over the last bits of this:
For the main course, we shared their delicious Seafood Paella: This dish is as delicious as it is drool worthy to look at! Enough to satisfy two.
THE DRINKS
One thing Mexican Sugar does not take likely: Their extensive drink menu. They’ve got over 140 tequilas, a scratch bar, and all kinds of imports! Just take a look at their menu for a list of all their options here: http://www.mexicansugarcocina.com/drink_menu.pdf
My personal favorite was the Paloma margarita: A very refreshing cocktail with grapefruit, agave, lime, squirt, and tequila:
Not pictured, is the delicious churros we were too eager to eat to photograph. If you followed along my instagram stories, you caught a peak of the goodness that is their mouthwatering cinnamon dusted, fluffy and crisp churros that we were served three dipping sauces with: Chocolate, raspberry and cream. Heaven!
To say we had a blast experiencing this restaurant is an understatement. This was the first of many trips we intend to take down there!
