We have seriously gotten into the halloween spirit… and its not even three days into October yet. Is that normal? Yeah, it totally is right? I mean, when you walk into my home, its so heavily fragranced with fall candles you might as well say you are walking into a pumpkin spice latte. It’s that real around here.
Lately our conversations at dinner revolve around what Katia wants to be for halloween. She’s changed her mind every other day, but since about a week ago…. we’ve stood strong on Chewbacca. This past weekend our focus was mostly on pumpkins. Carving them-specifically.
My victim:
Is it weird that I literally feel pleased scooping out the seeds? its probably my favorite part about this. That’s weird. I know. But it is.
Notice my two cute minions working away in the background.
*sigh*
I just love holiday traditions.
Well, until I saw this anyway:
Katia forgot to do my favorite part first, so she started carving her little guy out after she outlined his face. I’m sad I wasn’t fast enough with the camera when I first looked up: I see this tiny human stabbing a poor pumpkin so passionately out to get the top off I was almost startled.
If I could caption the intensity of it, it would say: Man, this pumpkin must owe her lots of money.
Baby Pumpkin, I give you points for smiling through a severe forehead stabbing. It’s hard out here for a pumpkin around this time of year.
…and voila! The finished product:
I added eyelashes to my lady pumpkin, to make her more prettiful.
Around here, if there’s a face on it,its not a thing… its a “friend”. Seriously- Whether its a stuffed animal or art project… if Katia slaps a face on it, its no longer an object, it becomes one of her “friends”.
These pumpkins became part of our family according to Katia (Does my kid need a sibling? Probably…). I think its cute though.
We ended up taking our new “friends” on a morning picnic with us Sunday morning:
More on that later.
Happy Pumpkin carving (or friend making, according to Katia) Season!!!!
