There is no shortage of delicious restaurants in the DFW area, but if you are looking for a restaurant to transport you to the Mediterranean, I’ve just the spot for you!
Nestled in the entertainment district at the Star in Frisco is Ziziki’s– a cozy neighborhood bistro featuring dishes inspired by Greece & Italy. Just the place to take your favorite people for a night filled with delicious and flavorful food.
There are rules to this though and we’ve no time to waste!
First things first: Grab a friend or two who’s company you absolutely enjoy. Or a client you want to impress. Maybe even your grandma (she did after all play a huge part in you getting your way with mom and dad growing up, and she really deserves this).
I was lucky enough to have Katie-Rose Watson of TheRoseTable.com join me for this delicious occasion.
When you walk in, make sure to take in the beautiful atmosphere: The fresh flowers that greet you, the lovely mediterranean decor, and the friendly staff:You’re in luck if Calin Pop (to the right), the GM, is there when you visit. He welcomes you and makes you immediately feel like family. Miguel(to the left)is extremely friendly and savvy when it comes to their menu. When in doubt, as Miguel!
So, after you’ve settled in order their Greek Wine Flight and Greek Board:
You can catch up on life while indulging your tastebuds in a delightful blend of locally sourced cheeses and charcuterie meats, dolmades, artichoke hummus, crostini, specialty jams, and mustards.
Their wine flight takes you on a tour of some of the most delicious Greek Wineries along the Mediterranean sea:
When you’re ready for dinner… sharing plates is the way to go. Only because you’re gonna want a little bit of everything and there’s not enough tummy to go around for all that you’re tastebuds are about to enjoy:
Mouthwatering Mahi-Mahi: pistachio crusted Mahi fillet, basil-mint reduction, feta, orzo risotto, beans.
The best Greek Paella: lamb chop, roasted chicken, shrimp, organic sausage & curried orzo.
And the mouthwatering Lamb Chops: three chops, crimini mushroom sauce & potatoes.
A truly delightful experience of chatting, nibbling, and sipping. What a time to be alive!
But it doesn’t end there. (The rules! The Rules!)
If you forget all else, remember this one: You absolutely, positively, undoubtedly CANNOT leave without experiencing the Euphoria that takes over when your taste their dessert.
The Baklava Ice cream cake and chocolate mousse cake- simply outrageously good.
Lastly, if you’ve got some time to kill, have a sit at the bar.
You can hear some fun stories by Calin and his staff and enjoy some great post meal cocktails:
Dont forget to top it all of with some Ouzo- Opa!
*Special thanks to Ziziki’s for hosting our experience!
